Rules for the 2024 Grand Rapids Futsal Cup

Grand Rapids Futsal Cup will adhere to FIFA Futsal Rules with Exceptions/Adjustments listed below:
● Clock is continuous: two (2) 22 minute halves with a 2 minute halftime
● OT Rules (Semi’s and Final’s only - Straight into penalties, follow rule #5 from Tie Breakers)
● Grand Rapids Futsal Cup will allow heading for ages U12 and up.

TIE BREAKERS
1. Head to Head
2. Goal Differential (8 goals max differential per game)
3. Goals Against
4. Goals For
5. Pk’s (5 per team and if tied after 5 then sudden death 1 and 1)

DIVISION STANDINGS
● WIN= 3pts, TIE= 1pt, LOSS= 0pts. THE PLAYERS
● There are FOUR (4) field players on the court at one time plus a goalkeeper (5v5) GOALKEEPER
● NO goal kicks but rather goal throws (The ball DOES NOT have to come out of the arc to be in play but the goalkeeper does only have 4 seconds to release the ball. After 4 seconds, the whistle blows and the opponents are awarded an indirect free kick at the top of the arc)
● Defending players MUST be outside the arc during the goal throw.
● Goalkeeper has 4 seconds max on the ball at all times.
● Goalkeepers can only possess the ball once a possession and for no more than 4 seconds unless
the goalkeeper is over the halfway line at which point the goalkeeper is considered a field player. In any instance a goalkeeper possesses the ball more than once during a possession the opposing team will be awarded an indirect free kick.

FOULS
● After 5 fouls in a half, the 6th foul is a penalty kick for the opposing team at the 2nd penalty marker (10 meters).

SUBS
● Subs can be on the fly at any time during the game
● The player on the court that is being subbed off must come completely off the court before the
sub can come on. Subs can only be done at the sub zone.
● If the sub comes on too early, the result is an indirect free kick for the opposing team where the ball is at the time of the whistle as well as a yellow card for the player that came onto the court early. That player will have to go back out and enter the game at the next chance presented by the referee.

KICK INS
● No throw-ins, rather Kick-ins. The ball must be ON the line and STOPPED.
● The player’s foot may be on the court when they take the kick. An illegal kick in (moving ball or
ball not on the line) will result in a turnover.
● Players have 4 seconds to get the ball in play. Defenders must be at least 5 meters away from the
ball.

FREE KICKS
● Players have 4 seconds to get the ball in play and defenders must be at least 5 meters away from the ball.

KICK OFFS
● Players must be 3 meters away and the ball can be played in any direction. The player taking the kick off may be on the opponents half.

PENALTY KICKS
● A penalty kick is taken from the top of the arc (Which is 6 meters from the goal line)

5TH ATTACKER (5th field player)
● If a team chooses to “fly the goalkeeper” as the “5th attacker, field player” this player needs to have a different color pinnie on to be identified as a goalkeeper and must abide by the rules of the goalkeeper.

TIME OUTS
The teams are entitled to a one-minute timeout in each half.

EQUIPMENT
● Futsal shoes, flat-soled shoes, or sneakers are the only acceptable footwear. (NO cleats or turf shoes are permitted. No game shoes worn outside before games)

THE BALL
● Players U12 and under, they use a size 3 futsal ball.
● Players U13 and older, they use a size 4 futsal ball. RED CARDS
● In the event of a player receiving two yellow cards or straight red card in a same game, that team will play a man down for 2 minutes or until a goal is scored, whichever comes first. Red cards carry 1 game suspension both in preliminary and advancing rounds.

REFERESS
● ALL referee decisions are final. NO protests, NO appeals.

JERSEY COLOR CONFLICT
● In the event of a color jersey conflict, the home team is required to change jerseys or wear scrimmage vests.

TEAM BENCHES and SPECTATORS
● Coaches are responsible for their teams' spectators.
● Each team must have a responsible adult (age 18+) on the bench at all times. AWARDS
● Individual awards will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place teams. NO participation awards. REFUND POLICY
● In the event of the tournament being canceled due to facility closures for any unforeseen reasons, the tournament would issue a pro-rated refund and/or for games affected. Tournament committee would decide on the refund/credit and communicate such to the teams/club affected.
